Join us for 10 unforgettable days on Mozambique's spectacular coastline alongside the incredible team at Love The Oceans, a marine conservation non-profit dedicated to protecting one of Africa's most biodiverse marine ecosystems. Throughout the expedition you'll spend time with marine biologists, contribute to real conservation projects, and experience the ocean in ways very few travellers ever do.
This trip is designed for adventurous women who are happy to embrace a busy, active itinerary and a fun group atmosphere. You'll need to be physically fit and comfortable spending long days on and around the water. While there will be opportunities to relax and recharge, this definitely isn't a lie-by-the-pool kind of holiday.
Our whale watching days can involve several hours on the boat, as all wildlife encounters are completely wild and never guaranteed. There are also a couple of cultural day trips involving short road transfers, so come ready for a full and rewarding itinerary.
This is a medium-sized group of 16 women. Some guests will already know each other from previous Girls that Scuba trips, but many join us completely solo. Expect a social atmosphere with music, laughter, shared meals, sunset drinks and plenty of excitement as you experience Mozambique together. We ask that you're happy to be part of the group and embrace the energy that comes with travelling alongside like-minded women. If you're looking for a quiet retreat or lots of alone time, this probably isn't the right trip for you. Read more about what to expect from the community on our trips here.
Arrive in Guinjata to your beautiful beach front accommodation, and enjoy welcome drinks as you settle in for the expedition.
Paradise found. Our private lodge, just for Girls that Scuba, features 8 twin rooms
Good morning, let's slowly wake up and start to learn about what we can expect to see over the next few days
After coffee, let's get in! Time to put our mask on and see what's under our feet
Our first time out on the ocean hoping to spot whales while undertaking visual surveys
One of the most unforgettable experiences of this expedition is the opportunity to stand-up paddleboard (SUP) alongside migrating humpback whales. Unlike a boat, a paddleboard allows you to move silently across the water, creating a peaceful and respectful way to observe these incredible animals in their natural habitat. Because the paddleboards are non-motorised, the whales may approach the boards of their own accord. Accompanied by experienced guides you'll head out during the best conditions in search of humpback whales as they migrate along Mozambique's coastline
Love The Oceans says that if conditions are safe and the whales are relaxed, guests may be allowed to quietly enter the water beside their boards for a surface-level view of the whales.
2 x Dives
Let's make our way to one of Guinjata's towering coastal sand dunes with some drinks to celebrate new friendships and adventures
Step away from the ocean for a morning and immerse yourself in Mozambican culture with a hands-on pottery experience hosted by the Josina Machel Association, a women's artisan cooperative in the nearby village of Mutamba. Founded in 2012, the association is made up of local women who have transformed their traditional clay-working skills into a sustainable livelihood. During your visit, you'll meet the talented artisans, hear their stories, and learn about the role pottery plays in their community and culture
Enjoy some rest time or join us for a movie night
This afternoon we have another 2 dives
One of the highlights of the expedition is a full day exploring the vibrant coastal town of Tofo. Known for its laid-back atmosphere, colourful local markets and beautiful palm-lined beaches, Tofo perfectly blends African culture with an adventurous beach town vibe.
It's not goodbye, it's see you soon 🥹
