Komodo is known for its strong currents, breathtaking drop-offs, and world-class marine life, so confidence in your buoyancy and comfort in changing conditions is essential.
You can expect everything from drift dives teeming with pelagics to calm coral gardens alive with macro life. Water temperatures range from 24–28°C (75–82°F) depending on the site and season, with cooler thermoclines in the south and deeper areas.
Visibility is generally excellent, ranging from 15 to 30 meters, offering an unforgettable view of the vibrant underwater world Komodo is famous for.
The Amira
The Amira Liveaboard isn’t just a dive boat - it’s a piece of Indonesian maritime heritage. Handcrafted in traditional phinisi style by master boatbuilders in Sulawesi, Amira was built with love, precision, and deep respect for the sea.
This elegant vessel now sails through some of the world’s most biodiverse waters, from Raja Ampat to Komodo, offering divers a truly immersive experience. With 10 spacious cabins, expert Swiss-Indonesian management, and a warm, attentive crew, Amira combines traditional craftsmanship with modern dive luxury.
From sunrise dives to starlit dinners on deck, every detail is designed to make your journey through Indonesia’s legendary dive sites unforgettable.
Welcome to Komodo!
The Amira crew will collect you from the airport or your hotel before welcoming you on board with a drink and showing you to your cabin.
Once everyone is settled in, there’ll be a full boat and safety briefing, followed by an introduction to how diving will work throughout the trip. Depending on your arrival time, breakfast or lunch will be served.
There are no dives on the first day, giving you time to settle in, meet your fellow divers and get excited for what’s ahead!
The adventure really begins!
We’ll enjoy 3-4 dives per day, including a dusk or night dive when conditions allow. During longer crossings, the schedule may be reduced to 2–3 dives.
And Komodo isn't just about what happens beneath the surface. Depending on our route, weather and ocean conditions, we'll also have opportunities to get above the surface and explore, including:
Visit Komodo dragons on a ranger-guided island trek
Hike Padar Island for its iconic sunrise viewpoint
Watch thousands of flying foxes take flight at sunset
Explore more remote islands, beaches and viewpoints along the way
With incredible currents, coral reefs and an abundance of marine life, every day brings something new!
Our final dives!
We’ll enjoy a maximum of two dives before cruising back towards the harbour, giving us plenty of time to relax, enjoy the boat and soak up our final hours in Komodo.
Until next time!
After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the Amira crew and your fellow divers. The crew will accompany you on your transfer to the airport or your next hotel, with a camera roll full of incredible memories and new dive buddies for life!
