Let’s head back to Raja Ampat in 2028 for one of the most epic girls trips out there! Often called the Last Paradise, Raja Ampat is the ultimate scuba diving mecca, and after our last trip onboard the Amira Liveaboard, we knew we had to return!

Marine life here is on another level. With over 1,500 species of fish, 500+ coral species and hundreds of molluscs, it’s one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. While diving, you can expect everything from wobbegongs and manta rays to turtles, reef sharks, giant trevallies, nudibranchs and even the occasional whale or dolphin.

It’s not just about the diving though. We’ll also take time to explore above the surface, including a visit to one of the most iconic viewpoints in the world and a chance to connect with a local community who live closely with the ocean. Add in life onboard - diving, eating, laughing and soaking it all in with an incredible group of women - and you’ve got a trip of a lifetime that you'll never forget!

The Amira is a special part of the Girls that Scuba family and hosts us on incredible trips across Indonesia almost every year since 2024 (sometimes multiple times a year!).

Amira is a beautifully crafted wooden vessel, built locally by indigenous craftsmen following traditional Pinisi shipbuilding techniques. At 52 metres long, it offers a spacious and comfortable setup with 10 cabins, each featuring en-suite bathrooms.

Onboard you’ll also find a welcoming restaurant, a cosy lounge, and a large sun deck perfect for relaxing between dives.

The dive setup is a real highlight, with a generous dive deck where every diver has their own space, multiple rinse tanks, plenty of room for gear, and a dedicated camera room, ideal for underwater photographers.

minimum Dive Requirements

minimum Dive Requirements image

To join this trip, divers must hold a minimum of Advanced Open Water certification (or equivalent) and have at least 50 logged dives.

Diving in Raja Ampat is truly world-class, with warm waters typically around 28–30°C (82–86°F) and some of the highest marine biodiversity on the planet.

Many dive sites feature currents, which are what bring in all that incredible life, so divers should feel comfortable with drift diving and occasional stronger conditions. On certain sites, particularly manta cleaning stations or reef points, reef hooks are often used to safely enjoy the action without damaging the reef.

Minimum dive requirements aren't there to exclude people - they're there to help make sure everyone is safe, confident, and able to fully enjoy the trip.

Some destinations have more challenging conditions like currents, deeper dives, or fast-paced schedules, so having the right level of experience means you'll get the most out of the adventure without feeling overwhelmed underwater.

We require the minimum number of dives to be met at least 6 months ahead of the trip start date.

If the requirement hasn't been met, the spot will be cancelled in line with our usual cancellation policy.

Beyond the dives

Beyond the dives image

Beyond the dives, there are also a number of optional adventures depending on the schedule, weather, and ocean conditions.

These might include visits to sand bars for relaxed time in shallow, crystal-clear water, trips to scenic viewpoints to take in the iconic limestone cliffs from above, and stops at unique natural spots such as Love Heart Lagoon or Jellyfish Lake where available.

All of these activities are flexible and dependent on conditions on the day, so the itinerary stays adaptable to make sure we choose the best and safest options while still making the most of what beautiful Raja Ampat has to offer.

reshark program

reshark program image

If schedule and conditions allow, we’ll have the opportunity to visit the ReShark program in Raja Ampat, an inspiring conservation initiative focused on restoring leopard shark populations and protecting marine ecosystems.

During the visit, you’ll learn more about the important work being done, the impact on local reefs, and how these efforts support the future of our oceans.

There will also be a chance to purchase merchandise to support the project, and we recommend a small donation of 100,000 Indonesian Rupiah (approximately $6–7 USD) per person to contribute directly to their ongoing work.

is this trip right for you? image

This trip is for adventurous ocean lovers excited to explore one of the most remote and biodiverse marine environments on Earth. Unlike more relaxed tropical trips, this is a liveaboard-style expedition focused on working with nature, conditions, and timing to make the most of every opportunity.

Raja Ampat offers warm water (28–30°C), making diving comfortable, but the environment is still wild and changeable. Visibility, currents, and dive sites can vary daily, so flexibility is key.

You’ll be doing multiple guided dives a day when conditions allow, entering and exiting from the boat. You should feel confident in currents, comfortable with boat entries, and happy diving in a group, with a strong respect for dive etiquette and the environment.

You’ll live onboard for 10 nights, sharing a cabin with one other female. Life on the boat is simple, social, and a big part of the experience, with a group of like-minded, ocean-loving women. If you’re new to our trips, read our reviews to get a feel for it.
